I’m currently an overweight/obese (BMI slightly under 30). Will running two miles per day on a standard 2000 calorie diet help me burn body fat and gain muscle?
Also, how long would it take me to burn 20-30 pounds?

That is a start… but it will only get rid of a few lbs if that. What you should do is eat NON-INSTANT oatmeal (the flavorless crap that taste like cardboard) int he morning with 1/2 fruit and 1/2 glass milk. For lunch eat whole wheat bread, peanut butter, sardines, yogart. Eat a brunch snack of walnuts. Eat fish or chicken for dinner with veggies. Drink tons of water. No soda or sugar or salty foods. Try to aim for 1500 calories or less. Start running 2 miles but work it up. I run 7.6 miles in 60 minutes 4 times a week. I started off 1 miles 5 times a day in 15 minutes and just worked it up. I went from 270 to 165 in 12 months
